Canadian Pacific Railway (TSX:CP). Railway. Down 12 cents, or 0.16 per cent, at $74.49 on 458,620 shares. Activist investor William Ackman has found a new ally in the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan to elect his nominees to the board of directors of CP and replace the railway's current CEO. Teachers' said Monday that it's backing the move to replace CP chief executive Fred Green with Hunter Harrison, former head of rival Canadian National Railway (TSX:CNR).
Air Canada (TSX:AC.B). Airline. Down two cents, or 2.08 per cent, at 94 cents on 574,457 shares. The compensation package for Air Canada's CEO fell 12 per cent last year, while the payouts of the airline's four other top executives soared even though continued losses drove its share price down more than 70 per cent. Calin Rovinescu earned $4 million in 2011, down from $4.55 million a year earlier, but higher than the $2.6 million during his first nine months on the job in 2009, according to a proxy circular.
