Searchers recover the bodies of two women after B.C. boating accident

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Two Prince George, B.C., women have been identified as the people killed when the jetboat they were riding crashed into a log jam in the Willow River east of Prince George on Sunday.

The B.C. Coroner's Service says 31-year-old Christy Schwing and 43-year-old Carolyn Simpson died in the accident.

The women and two men were aboard the vessel when the boat's engine quit and powerful currents slammed the vessel against the log jam, dumping all four people into the water.

The men managed to get to safety, but Schwing and Simpson disappeared in the river.

Searchers found one of their bodies Sunday night about 700 metres downstream from the site of the accident.

The other body was recovered Monday morning under the logjam.
