Police say alcohol, speed factors in crash that killed two teens near Vancouver

RICHMOND, B.C. - RCMP say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a crash that left two teens dead in the Vancouver area.

A news release says the Mounties received a call early Saturday morning that a vehicle had hit a tree in Richmond, south of Vancouver.

Two passengers, a 16-year-old and a 19-year-old, died in the crash.

The release says the driver suffered minor injuries and has since been released from hospital.

The RCMP and the BC Coroners Service are both investigating, but police believe speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
