B.C. pilot killed after losing control of paraglider and crashing into field

VERNON, B.C. - One man is dead after a powered paraglider crashed north of Vernon, B.C.

It appears the man lost control of the craft before slamming into a field Thursday.

Police say the pilot was conducting a training flight at the time with the glider, which is a non-registered aircraft.

The age of the pilot and his hometown are not immediately known.

The RCMP and B.C. Coroner's Service are investigating. (News1130,CKIZ,CKFR)

Note to readers: This is a corrected story. An earlier version referred to the craft as a hang glider when it is a paraglider.
