    Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

    TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

    Toronto Stock Exchange (11,544.64, up 32.42 points):

    Cline Mining Corp. (TSX:CMK). Miner. Down 25.5 cents, or 42.5 per cent, at 34.5 cents on 8,745,068 shares. The company says it has issued 60-day layoff notices to most of the workers at its New Elk coal mine in Colorado.

    Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down three cents, or 0.74 per cent, at $4.01 on 6,861,020 shares.

    Goldcorp Inc. (TSX:G). Down $3.83, or 10.18 per cent, at $33.80 on 6,339,922 shares. Shares in Goldcorp fell Wednesday after the company cut 2012 production guidance due to problems at its Red Lake mine in Ontario and Penasquito mine in Mexico.

    Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Up 62 cents, or 2.4 per cent, at $26.46 on 5,676,295 shares.

    Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up eight cents, or 0.4 per cent, at $20.07 on 5,016,598 shares. Oil rose to above US$85 a barrel Wednesday after a report showed U.S. crude supplies fell for a second week, suggesting demand may be improving.

    Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Down 71 cents, or 1.95 per cent, at $35.66 on 4,618,506 shares.

    TSX Venture Exchange (1,192.79 down 6.57 points):

    Zodiac Exploration Inc. (TSXV:ZEX). Oil and gas. Unchanged at 3.5 cents on 7,752,850 shares.

    WesternZagros Resources Ltd. (TSXV:WZR). Oil and gas. Up 12 cents, or 11.65 per cent, at $1.15 on 3,890,926 shares.

    Companies reporting major news:

    South American Silver Corp. (TSX:SAC). Miner. Down 12 cents, or 24.49 per cent, at 37 cents on 1,260,736 shares. The Vancouver-based company is protesting Bolivia's decision to revoke its licence to mine a rich silver deposit in the country and nationalize the project. The licence was cancelled Tuesday following opposition from Quechua Indians who had seized workers employed by South American Silver to press their case.

    Enbridge (TSX:ENB). Oil and gas. Up 74 cents or 1.84 per cent, at $40.92 on 1,347,219 shares. The company says that lessons it learned from an Enbridge pipeline spill in Michigan two years ago will be applied to the controversial Northern Gateway pipeline and other future projects.
