HELSINKI - A broadcaster says the Finnish film industry has cancelled large parts of its marketing campaign for the new Batman movie because of the killing of 12 people at a showing of the film in Colorado.
YLE television says Finnish movie distributor FS-Film's entire Internet campaign for "The Dark Knight Rises" has temporarily been shut down and that TV spots have been withdrawn. It was not clear Saturday how long the suspension would last, but it may only be this weekend.
The Paris premiere of the Batman movie was cancelled Friday when the shooting spree occurred in a Colorado suburb.
In Finland, where — according to movie database IMDb — the film opened on Friday, a teenager killed eight people at his high school in 2007. In 2008, a 22-year-old Finn fatally shot 10 people at a college.
