Nexen Inc. (TSX:NXY). Oil and gas. Up $9.06, or 52.4 per cent, at $26.35 on 45,395,848 shares. Nexen is being acquired by China National Offshore Oil Co. (CNOOC) in a US$15-billion deal that, if successful, will be China's largest ever overseas acquisition.
Yellow Media Inc. (TSX:YLO). Directory publisher. Up six cents, or 240 per cent, at 8.5 cents on 31,962,383 shares. The company has announced a plan to cut its debt to $850 million and find new board members as the struggling directories publisher continues its transition to an online company.
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down six cents, or 1.54 per cent, at $3.83 on 12,239,952 shares.
Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Up 75 cents, or 6.79 per cent, at $11.80 on 11,383,306 shares. Talisman is selling a 49 per cent interest in its U.K. division — a source of much volatility for the Canadian company in recent years — to Chinese firm Sinopec Corp. for $1.5 billion.
Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurance. Down 37 cents, or 3.47 per cent, at $10.30 on 4,420,643 shares.
Eastern Platinum Ltd. (TSX:ELR). Miner. Down one cent, or 4.44 per cent, at 21.5 cents on 4,362,717 shares.

Canamex Resources Corp. (TSXV:CSQ). Miner. Down three cents, or 7.79 per cent, at 35.5 cents on 11,569,980 shares.
Sintana Energy Inc. (TSXV:SNN). Oil and gas. Up one cent, or 8.33 per cent, at 13 cents on 3,791,000 shares.

Telus (TSX:T). Telecommunications. Up 71 cents, or 1.16 per cent, at $62.07 on 507,748 shares. Telus said Monday that it is under the federal foreign ownership limit of 33.3 per cent for telecom companies, responding to accusations that it was breaking the restriction. The Vancouver company said it's 32.59 per cent foreign-owned, as of June 29, and wants the CRTC to dismiss the complaint filed by smaller competitor Globalive.
TransAlta Corp. (TSX:TA). Oil and gas. Down 77 cents, or 4.4 per cent, at $16.74 on 2,849,897 shares. TransAlta has been ordered to rebuild units at its Sundance coal-fired power plant that are at the centre of dispute with TransCanada Corp. (TSX:TRP). Last year, TransAlta said the units at the Calgary facility could not be repaired economically and must be shut down permanently.
