    Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

    TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Tuesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

    Toronto Stock Exchange (12,111.63 down 73.42 points):

    TORC Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSX:TOG). Oil and gas. Down five cents, or 1.89 per cent, at $2.59 on 27,771,700 shares. The energy sector dropped 0.93 per cent to 247.24 points as the price of crude oil for January delivery dipped 56 cents US at the New York Mercantile Exchange, closing at $87.18.

    Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up 25 cents, or 8.01 per cent, at $3.37 on 10,430,034 shares. The plane and train maker made the biggest sale of business aircraft in its history by selling up to 142 Global aircraft to chartered jet company VistaJet in a transaction potentially worth up to US$7.8 billion.

    Research In Motion Ltd. (TSX:RIM). Wireless technology. Down $1.20, or 10.08 per cent, at $10.70 on 10,359,143 shares. The BlackBerry maker's stock gave back some of its recent gains amid a report that its market share in the U.S. dropped to 1.6 per cent in the 12-week period ended Oct. 28. That is a significant drop compared with 8.5 per cent in the same period last year.

    Twin Butte Energy Ltd. (TSX:TBE). Oil and gas. Down six cents, or 2.10 per cent, at $2.80 on 9,310,744 shares.

    Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Down 46 cents, or 1.62 per cent, at $27.92 on 5,638,643 shares.

    Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 17 cents, or 1.64 per cent, at $10.19 on 5,393,027 shares. The gold sector was the biggest decliner on the main index, dropping 2.16 per cent to 311.56 points as the price of the bullion fell US$7.30 to $1,742.30 per ounce.

    TSX Venture Exchange (1,206.17 down 19.58 points):

    GoldQuest Mining Corp. (TSXV:GQC). Mineral explorer. Down 29 cents, or 37.18 per cent, at 49 cents on 7,299,130 shares. The Vancouver-based company released its drill results for its Las Tres Palmas trend in the Dominican Republic.

    KWGResources Inc. (TSXV:KWG). Down half a cent, or 9.09 per cent, at five cents on 5,256,327 shares.

    Companies reporting major news:

    Connacher Oil and Gas Ltd. (TSX:CLL). Oil and gas. Down 6.5 cents, or 20.31 per cent, at 25.5 cents on 4,957,925 shares. The Calgary-based firm closed at its lowest level since October 2011 as it hunts for a new chief executive. Connacher announced Monday that Peter Sametz who has been interim CEO is leaving at year-end, and that a search is underway for his replacement.
