    Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

    TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

    Toronto Stock Exchange (12,725.69 up 50.96 points):

    B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down two cents, or 0.50 per cent, at $3.95 on 14,434,275 shares. The Vancouver-based company's stock dropped despite posting record gold revenue and record gold production in its last quarter and full fiscal year.

    Research In Motion Ltd. (TSX:RIM). Up $1.03, or 7.02 per cent, at $15.71 on 9,808,792 shares. Jefferies & Co. upgraded the BlackBerry maker's stock to buy from hold and raised its price target to US$19.50 from $13. The move came on expectations RIM will open its corporate BlackBerry email services to iPhone and Android devices.

    AuRico Gold Inc. (TSX:AUQ). Miner. Down 21 cents, or 2.60 per cent, at $7.86 on 9,310,786 shares. The Toronto-based company said it is expecting to produce up to 220,000 gold ounces this year, about 73 per cent more than in 2012.

    Surge Energy Inc. (TSX:SGY). Oil and gas. Down 30 cents, or 7.50 per cent, at $3.70 on 7,947,561 shares. The Calgary-based company said president and CEO Daniel O'Neil will take a short medical leave for routine tests. Surge Energy also reported that it will have a capital budget of $140 million in 2013.

    Kinross Gold (TSX:K). Miner. Up eight cents, or 0.85 per cent, at $9.45 on 7,852,304 shares.

    Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up four cents, or 0.98 per cent, at $4.12 on 5,808,229 shares.

    TSX Venture Exchange (1,235.32 up 2.17 points):

    Cantex Mine Development Corp. (TSXV:CD). Miner. Down a penny, or 40 per cent, at 1.5 cents on 10,744,649 shares.

    Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSXV:PRY). Oil and gas. Up nine cents, or 6.62 per cent, at $1.45 on 7,401,244 shares.

    Companies reporting major news:

    Fiera Capital Corp. (TSX:FSZ). Investment manager. Up 24 cents, or 3.16 per cent, at $7.84 on 6,350 shares. Montreal-based Fiera Capital has a deal to acquire part of the investment management business of GMP Capital Inc. (TSX:GMP). GMP Capital stock was up six cents, or 0.89 per cent, at $6.77 on 168,497 shares.
