Mounties in Langley, B.C., arrest prolific restaurant robbery suspect

LANGLEY, B.C. - Police in Langley, B.C., have a man in custody they believe was responsible for nine restaurant robberies over the span of a week.

Between Feb. 2 and 8 a string of Subway and pizza restaurants were held up around Metro Vancouver.

Police say in four of those robberies pepper sprayed was used and in one case the suspect made off with just $15.

Mounties say they caught up with a suspect when they were given a description of a vehicle after a robbery at a pizza shop on Feb. 8.

Twenty-two-year-old Edward Biwer of Surrey, B.C., has been charged with nine counts each of robbery, assault with a weapon and wearing a disguise with the intent to rob.

A 31-year-old woman arrested with Biwer was later released from custody, but police are recommending similar charges against her.
