Canada Post has agreed to defer a controversial community mailbox fee it plans to charge for new housing developments, a decision applauded by the Canadian Home Builders Association of the Central Interior.
The CHBA is counting the move as a victory - having lobbied at its regional, provincial and national level against the fee, for its members as well as for new home buyers.
Canada Post said it won't implement the $200 fee for another two years.
The association, meanwhile, will continue to oppose the proposed fee, particularly in light of sweeping changes recently announced by the Crown corporation.
