City hall is hoping to keep its social media momentum going as public meetings on the budget continue.
Last week's meeting on parks, recreation and cultural services was live-streamed with an online chat room and discussed on Twitter with the hashtag #kamloopsbudget.
"The new online presence garnered positive comments from media, citizens and other municipalities," according to a press release from the City Kamloops.
"The objective of using social media was to create additional awareness about the budget process and engage a younger and more diverse audience. The first budget meeting proved to be a good start."
A Daily News online survey, however, shows only slim support for the City's social media efforts. Support as of Monday morning stood at 57 per cent.
A budget meeting on public works takes place Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Parkside Lounge at Interior Savings Centre. The last meeting, on community safety and development and engineering services takes place on Feb. 5 - same time, same place.
Final deliberations by council will be at Kamloops City Hall on April 9 at 9 a.m. This meeting will determine the final tax rate for 2013.
