Classics find medals in pool at Vernon Fall meets

The Kamloops Classics placed second at the Vernon Kokanee Fall Invitational swim meet over the weekend.
The meet featured 11 clubs from Alberta and B.C., with the Classics bringing home 55 medals.

Outstanding performances from the Classics included Jagdeesh Uppal, Ally Sandulescu, Marina Ackermann, Tanner Douglas, Emma Koopmans and Eloise Ladyman, all of whom had 100 per cent personal-bests.

In the 14 and under boys division, Carel Ackermann won three events, was second in another and third in two.
In the 12 and under girls, Marina Ackermann was second in five events.

Megan Dalke, in 14 and under girls. won four events, was second in two and third in two, while Gabrielle Dagasso finished second in one event, and Makena Sutherland had one first and a second.

Shaina Kloska, in the 15 and over girls, won three and was third in three other events.

In 10 and under girls, Sarah Koopmans had a gold, two silvers and a bronze, while Julia Jensen had two third-place finishes.

Austin Phillips in 12 and under boys, won three events and was second in five others.
Ethan Phillips, in 14 and under boys, had a first, three seconds and a third.

Trevor Laupland, in 10 and under boys, had a second and three thirds, while Michael Dagasso was third in one event.

Meanwhile, in the Kokanee club's Fall Jamboree, a number of Classics competed for the first time.
In 10 and under girls, Gillian Riel had a first and two seconds.

In 12 and under girls, Marley Dean had one second.

Max Angove and Jack Cameron, in the 8 and under boys, each won two events and placed second in another, while Parker Cameron finished third in one event and Carson McRae had a second and a third.

In 10 under boys, Arisson Jyrkkanen earned a first, while Logan Harris had a first and a third.

Mark Laroche, OJ Hunka and Christopher Hammond all swam under the four-minute standard for the 200-metre IM to qualify for two-day regional meets.
