A Lillooet-based conservation officer - known as the MacGyver of the service - has been named outstanding officer of the year.

Bob Butcher is known for his creative problem solving, such as the ability to fix a snowmobile in the backcountry with few resources.

He has managed several high-profile investigations, including bighorn sheep poaching near a First Nations reserve.
