The dead battery was poetic justice writes Claire Jacques-Plant and Garry Plant, who say a pair of motorists started a fire in the middle of a cross-country ski trail and then got stuck.

Re: Vehicles Left at Stake Lake Trails (The Daily News, Jan. 2).

Dear Mr. BFL-6448 (Alberta plate) and Ms. 580-TFS (B.C. plate on a Volkswagen Golf):

The road you believed you were on, where you built a fire in the middle that was the size of a small crater, is not a road but a cross-country ski trail called Little Joe. This recreational area is used by the Stake Lake cross-country ski club. Numerous volunteers spend many hours to maintain and groom the trails for the benefit of its members.

By the way, the Good Samaritans that helped you out are also our volunteers.

This photo is the proof of your guilt - and the damage you caused.

The dead battery and getting stuck is poetic justice!
