A former Kamloops MLA has taken the helm of the B.C. Lottery Corp. board of directors.
Bud Smith, a former Social Credit attorney general, replaces previous board chairman John McLernan, who held the position since 2005.
Smith has been a board director since May of last year.
As a member of the now defunct Social Credit party, Smith held the post of minister of economic development and was the principal secretary to the premier of British Columbia.
He's served on a number of Crown corporation boards, including Canada Post Corporation, B.C. Development Corporation, Prince Rupert Port Authority and Ridley Terminals.
