Gun threats top off Pinantan confrontation

A violent altercation at Pinantan Lake Sunday afternoon led to threats to use a gun, Kamloops RCMP said Tuesday.

The bizarre chain of events started with a group of people driving trucks through a mud hole, police said.

Four other people arrived on ATVs, and an upset man in camouflage gear told them to stop destroying the land and leave.

A pushing match ensued, with a woman joining in, and one of the truck drivers was punched in the head.

One of the ATV operators called for grabbing a gun. While they had a rifle, they did not produce one.

Police have talked to the group with the trucks and would like to talk to the group with the ATVs. Witnesses say a man in the ATV group may be named Gary, and they may have been bear hunting.
