Handguns and bear spray were used in a home invasion Tuesday at 11:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Valleyview Drive, Kamloops RCMP said.

Two men living at the home heard a knock on the door and looked out to see a man wearing a mask. Thinking it was a friend playing a joke, they let him in.

Two masked men entered with handguns and ordered the victims to the ground. They went through the home and took everything they could carry. Before leaving they used a can of bear spray on the residents.

Police officers noted evidence of illegal activity in the home and feel the victims were targeted because of it.
