Robert Brown

A Kamloops resident with a keen interest in military history has helped shed some light on the short life of Robert Brown, an 18-year-old soldier killed in action during the First World War.

Brown was the subject of a feature storyin Saturday's Daily News, focusing on the young man's letters he wrote home during 1916 until his death at Passchendaele in 1917.

On Tuesday, Kamloops resident Jeff Lodge brought in a photo of Brown he discovered in the 1920 book Letters from the Front, published by the Canadian Bank of Commerce. Brown was a clerk at the bank before he enlisted in the war in 1916.

It is believed to be the only known photo of the young soldier.
