Idea Festival supported by City council

I want to thank Mel Rothenburger for his kind comments about the Kamloops Idea Festival and about my commitment to good public engagement. I also want to thank my council colleagues and city hall's senior staff.

I did not ask for any formal council endorsement of the Kamloops Idea Festival but I did update council and staff through email. I received nothing but encouragement and offers of personal support. It is my strong feeling that City council, as a whole, is committed to good public engagement. Coun. Ken Christian, for example, wrote about city hall's new public input/dialogue opportunities on the budget in his last Daily News column. To be held on Jan. 22 and 29 and on Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at Interior Savings Centre, these meetings will also be streamed live online.

For more information about how to provide input on community finances in person, online, or by phone or mail, please visit www.kamloops.ca/2013budget/ or call 250-828-3413.

Coun. ARJUN SINGH
