Mayor Peter Milobar better be collecting Air Miles.

He and two other City council members are off to Kamloops' sister city Uji, Japan, on Oct. 10 for their regular exchange.

Councillors Marg Spina and Donovan Cavers are also going.

Uji has a newly elected mayor, so this will be their first time meeting him, Milobar said.

But Milobar won't be returning straight home after that trip. He's heading to Nanaimo for a B.C. Transit strategic planning meeting. He sits on the B.C. Transit board.

Then he's off to Ottawa for the Communities In Bloom convention and awards. While there, Milobar will be talking up Kamloops as a possible host for the 2015 CIB convention.

And he'll also be meeting with federal Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq to discuss the proposed Ajax mine.
