A man walking in front of London Drugs just after noon Thursday was pinned between a pole and a no-post barrier in a bizarre mishap involving a car, Kamloops RCMP said.
Witnesses at Lansdowne Mall told police that a 1989 grey Buick drove into a handicapped stall, backed up, then drove in again. On the second try, the engine revved and sent the car over the curb.
It pushed back a metal sign post so that it hit a 25-year-old Kamloops man walking behind it at the time. The pole bent back and pinned him against a no-post barrier.
The pedestrian was treated at Royal Inland Hospital for cuts to his knee and elbow.
The driver of the car, a 72-year-old Pinantan Lake resident, was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.
