I've lived in the Sagebrush area (the old south Kamloops) for about three years now and walk every where, as opposed to when I lived in the suburbs and drove every where.
You really have to be on your toes, so to speak, when it comes to traffic. Cars rule now.
I don't know whether it is driver distraction, or just a shift in values, but we have had a few close calls, especially on Columbia Street.
I don't know how the kids cross without getting hit. No one stops. I don't text and walk, but I see it happening all the time, a recipe for disaster in my opinion.
I just wish the crosswalks were really clearly painted and marked with more lighting.
