Kamloops RCMP continue to find no shortage of drivers illegally using cellphones.
Road checks set up for a total of three hours Thursday at two intersections - Seventh and Richmond, and Tranquille and MacKenzie - resulted in five charges for using a cellphone.
There were also five seatbelt violations, five violations for failing to stop and one ticket issued for having no insurance, Staff Sgt. Grant Learned said Monday.
Spot checks will continue throughout the year, especially at high-volume intersections, he said.
"Distracted driving continues to be an ongoing problem not only in Kamloops but in other cities around the province. I think the general consensus is that it is a slow process where the drivers will come around."
