What would you do with an extra day?

Would you spend it with family and friends? Would you spend it catching up on work or chores? Or would you simply and blissfully snooze the hours away curled up by the fire?

On Feb. 29, Kamloops residents (and, indeed, every human on Earth) will get one extra calendar day, courtesy of Leap Year and the Gregorian calendar.

And the Kamloops Project wants to record it all for posterity.

In 2010, our very first Kamloops Project asked the citizens of this great city to help build an unprecedented photographic archive celebrating a day in the life of our community. More than 600 photos were submitted, creating a poignant visual tapestry of our shared experience.

On Leap Day, we want to do it all again!

On Wednesday, Feb. 29, the Kamloops Project invites you to share a single photograph taken on that date, along with a short write-up (max. 100 words) on how you spent your extra calendar day.

Every submission will be uploaded to this 2012 Kamloops Project website and many will become part of a keepsake printed publication that will be distributed throughout the community.

Please consider joining this historic project. We've included a list of FAQs (pdf) to help you and your family prepare for the big day.

In the meantime, please join the conversation about the 2012 Kamloops Project on our
Facebook page or on Twitter at #KamProject.
