Canadian Blood Services and emergency service workers team up for Sirens for Life, a winter blood drive that continues through January.
They're hoping that Interior residents will donate blood in support of local emergency responders, who often see the need for blood first hand.
"They are on the front line every day and now lives can change in an instant," said Gayle Voyer of Canadian Blood Services. "Anyone can need blood at any time. It can take 50 blood donors to save someone who has been in a car accident."
The theme for this year's campaign is "Someone still needs your help," a reference to the fact that the need for blood never takes a holiday.
Donating blood only takes about an hour. To make an appointment, or for eligibility information and clinic locations, visit www.blood.ca or call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
A mobile clinic at Calvary Community Church, 1205 Rogers Way, is scheduled for: Monday, 1-6 p.m.; Tuesday, noon-7 p.m.; and Wednesday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
