Treat homeless with more respect

Regarding homeless people, we have merchants in Kamloops complaining about homeless people and their aggressive dogs.

I guess anything bigger than a poodle barking is deemed aggressive. These people are on the streets due to circumstances beyond their control (not by choice) and their dogs love and respect them; a dog does not judge or care if you are rich or poor.

Maybe if the merchants would show the homeless some respect and buy them the odd lunch (a milk bone for a dog) everyone would get along better.

Then there are those who want panhandlers arrested because they consider homeless people aggressive.

I guess they would be aggressive, too, if some change would mean the difference between life and death.

In a compassionate society, laws and bylaws should not be used to further hurt vulnerable people.

Everyone seems to forget these homeless are individuals like us and we should do what we can to help them, not prosecute them for being down on their luck.
