Valleyview boys are West Zone junior basketball champions

The Valleyview Vikings won the West Zone junior boys basketball championship at home on Saturday.

Connor Carson had 16 points as Valleyview defeated the South Kamloops Titans, 43-34. Max Harris had 11 points for South Kam.

Valleyview had beaten the Westsyde Whundas 71-37 in a semifinal. Tyler Wightman scored 18 points in the victory, while Kailum Nicholson scored 12.

South Kam edged Sa-Hali 40-38 in the other semifinal, with Harris and Jordan Komarniski each scoring seven points in the victory. Kaylan Phillips and Ty Scott each scored nine for Sa-Hali.

Valleyview and South Kam both advance to the Okanagan championships, to be held at Valleyview on Feb. 22-23.

The Sabres finished third, beating Westsyde, 50-44. Haris Djelmo scored 12 points for Sa-Hali, and Parker Rice had 10 for Westsyde.

Also on Saturday, Sa-Hali dropped the St. Ann's Crusaders, 32-28. Kyle Metz and Scott each scored 10 for Sa-Hali, while Zac Rombough scored nine for St. Ann's and Francis Alec had eight.

Westsyde had beaten the NorKam Saints, 45-34. Jordan Rice, with 18 points, and Josh Bosher, with 11, led the Whundas. Cameron Whitelaw had 14 points for NorKam and Cody Humphrey scored 10.

There will be a pair of challenge games in the junior girls playoffs, as the second spot at Okanagans is up in the air.

The South Kamloops Titans rolled through the tournament, beating the Ashcroft Rams 63-13, the Valleyview Vikings 44-5 and the Sa-Hali Sabres, 61-10. This means that South Kam is guaranteed a spot at Okanagans.

The NorKam Saints, Vikings and Sabres will fight for the second spot.

NorKam and Valleyview are to play today, 8 p.m., at Valleyview in the first challenge game. The winner will move into the final challenge game at Sa-Hali on Wednesday at 5 p.m. - the winner of this game will go to Okanagans.

The NorKam Saints are 8-1 in Okanagan senior AAA boys basketball after knocking off the Rutland Voodoos 68-56 in Kelowna on Friday.Austin LaBonte had 12 points, 13 blocks and 14 rebounds, while Evan Helgason scored 14 points and blocked two shots. Evan Cave and Kevin Khungay each scored 10 in the victory.

Tye Desrosiers had 26 points and 15 rebounds as the South Kamloops Titans beat the Rutland Voodoos 71-38 in Kelowna on Saturday.

The victory leaves the Titans 6-3 in Okanagan senior AAA boys basketball ahead of a Thursday road game against the Penticton Lakers.

Reid Sellars scored 18 points in the victory and Jacob Adams had 16 points and 12 assists.

Another perfect weekend meant another basketball tournament title for the South Kamloops Titans Grade 8 girls.

South Kam rolled through the Brock tournament with three victories - 44-5 over the Valleyview Vikings, 53-15 over the Brocklehurst Broncs Grade 7 team, and 31-23 over the St. Ann's Crusaders.

Keisha Whalen, Lindsey Veale and Georgia Aldus were the Titans' all-stars.
