A pharmacist who opened Pratt's Pharmacy downtown nearly 30 years ago is set to retire.
Murray Pratt opened the Nicola Street pharmacy in 1981 in the location where it is today. A partner who joined several years ago, Chris Cameron, will take over the downtown business.
"The name will stay the same," said Pratt's wife, Sue. "Everyone knows us as Pratt's."
Murray came to Kamloops as a young pharmacist in 1971 to open a new store at Thompson Park Mall for what was supposed to be a seven-month stint.
"And he never left," quipped Sue.
He worked at the mall pharmacy through three owners and changes of names before opening his own shop.
Sue said she and Murray are leaving the city to settle in White Rock.
