A man with apparent street-gang connections is back in jail, just days after being released.
Prosecutor Will Burrows was in provincial court Wednesday wanting Cailin Park returned to jail pending his trial on charges he assaulted and threatened his ex-girlfriend.
The court was told the man, who has a history of violence, apparently has ties to the Independent Soldiers street gang. The Crown is worried the man might commit new offences while on bail.
He was released from jail March 5 on unrelated charges and was free on bail pending the next trial. But Judge Dev Dley said the Crown's concerns are justified and ordered the man detained until the court deals with his outstanding charges.
