A 36-year-old man faces a number of charges, including attempted murder, after a failed robbery Friday afternoon at a motel on Columbia Street West, Kamloops RCMP said Tuesday.
John Dawson Scott Attrell was arrested on Ord Road half an hour after police received a 911 call at 12:30 p.m.
Two women told officers a man had tried to rob them and they got into a fight. He pulled out a handgun before fleeing.
Police were able to track down Attrell based on a description provided by victims and earlier dealings with him.
A police dog found a firearm and ammunition near the vehicle where Attrell was arrested.
Attrell is also charged with robbery with a firearm, possession of a prohibitive device and careless use/storage of a firearm.
He is in custody until his next court appearance on Monday.
