Pickup truck destroyed in fire; no injuries

Crews were quick to put out a fire in a pickup truck Wednesday at about 8 a.m., but not before the vehicle was destroyed.

The early-90s Dodge Dakota was near Eighth Street and Sudbury Avenue when the driver saw smoke coming from the dashboard, assistant fire chief Dave McMahon said.

The driver tried to disconnect the battery, but wasn't able to stop the blaze from engulfing the vehicle.

There were no injuries in the mishap.

McMahon said there are any number of reasons for a vehicle catching on fire: "It's not that unusual."
