Are those railway tracks still in use?

YOU ASKED:I would like to know if the railway tracks on Tranquille Road that go into the refinery are still in use. These are the ones just past the entrance to the airport.

- Thank you, Barb A.

OUR ANSWER:Yes, they are still in use.

Suncor Energy uses the tracks to send and receive shipments of gasoline and diesel at the distribution terminal it operates next to Kamloops Airport.

Longtime Kamloops residents know the location as the site of the former Gulf Oil refinery.

The Suncor Terminal operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Most of the product arrives at the terminal via rail or pipeline.

Then big rigs drive in, load up and carry the gas or diesel to local and regional gas stations.
