Community support built fabulous school playground

In the summer of 2010, a large portion of the playground at L'ecole South Sa-hali was deemed unsafe and was removed. Since the parent advisory council (PAC) had already been saving steadily for the previous three years, they were able to install a tire swing and climbing net in 2010.

The 2010-11 school year focused on fixing the small existing playground which was in need of a new slide, but this playground wasn't large enough for the entire school population and there were absolutely no monkey bars on the school property.

In December 2010, a meeting was held and the PAC decided to make building a new playground its priority. We needed the new playground to include numerous sets of monkey bars, more slides and benches for adults.

The 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years were a whirlwind. With thanks to the students, parents, staff and community, L'École South Sa-hali accomplished the incredible task of raising $50,000 to build a fabulous new playground for the students and community to enjoy.

The playground was installed in October. On Nov. 5, the ribbon cutting and opening of the playground occurred with speeches from principal Patti Holm and PAC chairperson Don Kitt. The students cheered loudly for this amazing accomplishment.

L'École South Sahali parents, students, staff and the community would like to give a huge thank-you to our major sponsors: Robert L.
