Dylan Armstrong of Kamloops finished third in the shot put at a Diamond League meet in Lausanne, Switzerland, on Thursday.
Armstrong threw 20.75, leaving him behind Americans Ryan Whiting (21.88) and Reese Hoffa (21.58).
Armstrong left for Victoria after the meet in Lausanne. It has been a busy few weeks for the Kamloops native, who learned last month that he is in line to earn a bronze medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Armstrong finished fourth in Beijing, but the third-place finisher - Belarusian Andrei Mikhnevich - has been given a lifetime ban for doping, meaning Armstrong will get the medal.
He went on to finish second at the Canadian chapionship in Moncton on June 21, then won back-to-back National Track League events in Edmonton and Vancouver last week.
He is to compete in the Victoria International Track Classic today, along with shot putter
Justin Rodhe and hammer throwers Sultana Frizell, Megann Rodhe, Adam Keenan, Ryan Jensen and KibwÉ Johnson and javelin thrower Mason Kereszti.
All eight train at the National Throws Centre in Kamloops.
