Minor Hockey: Coyotes erase deficit and win Vernon tourney

PEEWEE RECREATION

Cordell Davidson scored three times for the Zimmer-Wheaton Predators in a 3-3 tie with Team 1 on Sunday at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre.

Dimitri Louvros, with two, and Nolan Dicostanzo had the goals for Team 1.

Brendan Worsfold, for Team 1, and Tyson Dmyterko, for the Predators, were the goaltenders.

The Golden Bears, with Jordan Devries scoring three times, dumped the Blades 8-3 on Sunday.

Keegan Emsland, with two, Dawson Bradley, Ryan Anderson and John Black also scored for the winners. The Blades got goals from Tyson Koehl, Pierce Huser and Connor Humphrey.

Josh Humphrey earned the goaltending decision over Ethan Herndier.

MAJOR MIDGET

The Thompson Blazers played to a 4-4 tie with the Kootenay Ice in Chase on Saturday, then beat the Ice 4-1 on Sunday.

Felix Larouche, Kaleb Boyde, Conner Richards and Zachary Sanderson scored for the Blazers in the tie, with Chad Butcher drawing two assists. Devon Pearson was in goal.

On Sunday, Chad Butcher, with two, Conner Brown-Maloski and Carter Cochrane had the goals for the winners, who had Liam McLeod in goal.

The Blazers, who are 3-4-1, next play Saturday, 5:15 p.m., in Nanaimo against the North Island Silvertips.

MIDGET A FEMALE

The Maverick Motor Inn Mystixs scored a 4-2 victory over Kelowna on Saturday at the Valleyview Arena.

Shelby Danielle, Chanelle Petrie, Melissa Brunn and Jordan Finnie had the Kamloops goals.

On Sunday, the Mystixs bounced Salmon Arm 7-3 at the Valleyview Arena.

Libby Gottfriedson, with three, Catriona Young, Petrie, Danielle and Finnie had the Mystixs' goals.

The Thompson Hotel dropped an 8-1 decision to the visiting Revelstoke Tier 3 side on Sunday.

Ryan Ignace scored for the Kamloops side, which had Payton Shindel in goal.

The Jardine's Blazers split two weekend games, losing 6-1 to POE on Friday and then beating Vernon 4-1 on Sunday.

Nick Chyzowski scored for the Blazers in the loss, while Josh Shank was in goal.

On Sunday, Dexter Robinson, with two, Joe Falsetta and Chyzowski had the goals. Chyzowski also drew two assists. Bailey De Palma was in goal.

ATOM DEVELOPMENT

The Scotiabank Titans dumped the Jets 7-4 in a Friday exhibition game.

Connor Milburn, with three, Ben Ward, Will Alberts, Kimberly Davidson and Hayden Fidanza scored for the Titans, while Corson Nordick, with two, twin brother Hayden Nordick and Jesse Kotani replied for the Jets.

On Saturday, the Jets, with Elijah Joly in goal, beat North Okanagan 5-2 in Armstrong.

Alek Erichuk, Carter Adams, Jayden Grant, Corson Nordick and Kotani scored for the Jets.

On Sunday, the Jets played their first league game, losing 4-2 to the Kelowna Thunder in Rutland. Adams and Grant scored for the Jets, who had Taylor Kaban in goal.

Kelowna No. 3 and the visiting Kamloops Scotiabank Titans played to a 3-3 tie on Sunday.

Connor Milburn, Jaden Zunti and Brenda Kirschner scored for the Titans.

The Jardine's Blazers played to a 4-4 tie with the Prince George Cougars on Saturday at Memorial Arena.

Tyler Ward, Matthew Facchinelli, Max Patterson and Brendan Semchuk scored for the Blazers. Brett Olstad helped out with three assists.

On Sunday, the Blazers edged the Cougars, 4-3.

Semchuk, with two, Ty Kolle, Mike Van Unen scored for the locals. Molly Box had two helpers, while Max Palaga was strong in goal.

The North Kamloops Elks split two weekend games, losing 6-3 to Penticton on Saturday and beating OHS 4-2 on Sunday.

Monty Chisholm, with two, and Cole Clifford had the goals on Saturday, with Riley Woodland in goal.

On Sunday, Myles Jarvis-Rorison, Colton Griffith, Brendan Law and Matt Wojak scored for the Elks, who had Nolan Munden in goal.

The Mystixs lost two games to the Prince George Cougars.

The host Kelowna Rockets scored a 6-0 victory over the North Kamloops Lions on Sunday.

Ethan Langenegger had a strong game for the Lions in what was reported to be a "penalty-filled game."

The Tk'emlups Coyotes went undefeated in round-robin play during a weekend tournament in Vernon.

The Coyotes started Friday with a 9-7 victory over Merritt, with Brendan Roche scoring three times. Tyson Gayfer and Seiji Brown, with two each, Hunter Klassen and Chad Petrie also scored. Brown also had two assists and was the MVP. Dalton Johnston was in goal.

On Saturday, the Coyotes dumped the South Okanagan Junior Coyotes 8-1 as Kordel Primus and Austin Morphy each scored three times. Brown and Luke Rodrigue added one each, while Hunter Klassen, Petrie and Roche each had two helpers. Lucas Duckworth was the MVP. Jarrett Larsen was in goal.

Also on Saturday, the Coyotes bounced the Kelowna Rockets 7-4 as Morphy scored three times. Primus, Roche, Brown and Nathan Thiesen added singles. Roche also had two assists, as did Brown. Morphy was the MVP. Johnston was in goal.

In their semifinal game, the Coyotes beat the Salmon Arm Silvertips, 8-2, as Petrie, the MVP, scored four times and Klassen added three. Elias Wallace had t he singleton. Rodrigue helped out with three assists. Larsen was in goal.

In the final, the Coyotes erased a 3-0 third-period deficit and beat the Rockets, 5-3. Duckworth, Brown, Petrie, Primus and Gayfer scored for the Coyotes, with Primus breaking a 3-3 tie with les sthan eight minutes to play. Roche had three assists and Wallace had two. Johnston and Larsen split the goaltending.

BANTAM TIER 3

The North Kamloops Lions won a pair of weekend games in Penticton, beating the host Tier 3 team 8-3 on Saturday and 7-2 on Sunday.

On Saturday, 12 of the Lions' 14 skaters got on the scoresheet. Felix Nachtigal, with two, Cario Piva, McCoy Pearce-Orr, Aidan Demers, Darion Nordick and Dayne De la Roode had the goals in support of goaltender Caelen Hollings. Bryce McDonald, Braeden Hart and Josh Hoffman each had two assists.

On Sunday, Tony Dennis led the way with four goals and McDonald added a pair. Pearce-Orr had the other score, while Matt Hicketts was in goal.
