Sports Briefs: South Kam to honour Buckham, raise money

The South Kamloops Titans senior girls and boys basketball teams are to honour Diane Buckham and raise money for Alzheimer's disease at their games Friday night.

The games - at J.P. Gym - will start at 6 o'clock and 7:45, with the boys to play in the late game.

Buckham was a big part of the Kamloops basketball community and won two provincial championships in the 1960s. She is the wife of former Kam High athletic director Jack Buckham, and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years ago. Jack and Diane are advocates for the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.

The Buckham family will be selling T-shirts at the game, with funds going toward the Alzheimer's Walk For Memories at the Tournament Capital Centre on Jan. 29. The South Kam senior girls team will wear the shirts during Friday's classes.
